The CDate() function

Convert text to a date data type

We might have inherited or imported date data in text format like "November 21 2011" or even "21 November 2011".  Since we want to properly store this text data in a date field, we can conveniently use the cdate() function to achieve our goal.

SELECT cdate("November 21 2011") as DateType

You will achieve the same result if you use:

SELECT cdate("21 November 2011") as DateType
